TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — FC Tulsa opened its USL Championship season with a commanding 3-0 victory over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday at ONEOK Field. Midfielder Kalil ElMedkhar opened the scoring in the 10th minute before forward Taylor Calheira sealed the win with a second-half brace, scoring in the 57th and 79th minutes. ElMedkhar and Calheira powered the offense, combining for all three goals on an evening where five different Tulsa players recorded an assist. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that anticipated a 1-1 draw, as Tulsa’s defense held firm to secure the clean sheet.
