JEPARA, Indonesia (Interstat) — Substitute Giovani Numberi scored in the 63rd minute to give Persijap a 1-0 victory over Madura Utd in a Liga 1 match Saturday at Stadion Gelora Bumi Kartini.

The decisive goal came against the pregame projections, as statistical models favored Madura Utd and forecast a draw. Numberi finished a buildup assisted by fellow substitute Lulinha, who later received a red card in second-half stoppage time.

The match was a physical affair, featuring five yellow cards before the dismissal. The result gives Persijap a winning start to its domestic campaign, while Madura Utd begins with a loss.
