LIVERPOOL (Interstat) — Tranmere Rovers host Grimsby Town on Saturday in a League Two match with playoff implications for both sides.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Prenton Park.
Grimsby Town enter the game on a four-match winning streak, including a 4-0 thrashing of Swindon Town on April 25. The Mariners have won five of their past six, outscoring opponents 14-4 in that span. Their only loss in that stretch came April 14 against Chesterfield.
Overall this season, Grimsby have an 8-2-1 record in their last 11 matches, with the only other defeat a 3-1 loss to Harrogate Town on April 3. Grimsby’s attacking form has been potent, netting four goals twice in April.
Tranmere Rovers, by contrast, have struggled. They suffered a 3-0 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons on April 25 and have lost four of their last five. The lone positive result in that stretch was a 3-1 win at Cheltenham Town on April 21. Over the past 10 matches, Tranmere have managed just two victories, with six losses and two draws.
The Super White Army have been held scoreless in five of their last nine games and have conceded multiple goals in five of those matches.

Grimsby’s recent run includes wins over Cambridge United (2-1), Gillingham (4-1), Crewe Alexandra (3-2), Crawley Town (2-0) and Barrow (5-0), along with draws against Bromley and losses to Chesterfield, Harrogate Town and Oldham Athletic.
Tranmere’s form includes draws against Chesterfield and Fleetwood Town, wins over Cheltenham, and losses to Bristol Rovers, Colchester United, Shrewsbury Town, Swindon Town, Harrogate Town, Oldham Athletic and Newport County.

Both teams will be looking to solidify their positions in the League Two table as the season enters its final stretch. Tranmere aim to snap their skid, while Grimsby seek a fifth consecutive victory.

The match marks the second of two league meetings between the clubs this season. Tranmere’s victory in November was their first in the fixture since 2021.
