Newport County vs Oldham Athletic
AP Sports Preview: League Two Clash at Rodney Parade
NEWPORT, Wales (Interstat) — Newport County will host Oldham Athletic in a League Two matchup Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Rodney Parade, with both sides seeking to reverse recent form.
Oldham Athletic (7-15-18) enters the contest after a 2-1 loss to Salford City on April 18, extending a difficult stretch. The Latics have lost four of their last five matches, including a 3-2 defeat at Barrow on April 14 and a 1-0 loss to Shrewsbury Town on April 11. Their lone bright spot in that span was a 3-1 victory at Colchester United on April 3. Overall, Oldham has dropped six of its last nine, with wins against Colchester, Notts County (3-0 on March 24), and Chesterfield (3-0 on March 17).
Newport County (8-14-16) also comes off a loss, falling 1-0 at Cheltenham Town on April 18. The Exiles have been inconsistent, winning two, losing four, and drawing one of their last seven matches. Newport defeated Harrogate Town 2-1 on April 11 but suffered a 3-1 loss at Notts County on April 6. Prior to that, Newport beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 on March 28 to snap a three-match losing streak. The Exiles have lost six of their last 10 and drawn one.
The teams met most recently on Nov. 22, 2025, when Oldham won 3-0 at Boundary Park. That result extended Oldham’s dominance in the head-to-head, as the Latics have won the last two meetings. Newport’s last win in the series came in April 2022.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.
Following Saturday’s match, Oldham hosts Accrington Stanley on May 2, while Newport travels to Barrow that same day.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time (10 a.m. EDT).
