Cambridge Utd vs Barrow

CAMBRIDGE, England (Interstat) — Cambridge United defeated Barrow 3-0 on Saturday at Cledara Abbey Stadium in a League Two match, extending their solid home form and handing the visitors another defeat.

Ben Knight opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finishing from close range after a build-up that involved substitute Jordan Williams. James Gibbons, a defender, doubled the lead in the 57th minute with a strike from inside the box. Substitute Wyll Stanway capped the scoring in the 74th minute, also providing an assist earlier in the match to finish with a goal and an assist. Fellow substitutes Jack Thompson and Jordan Williams each recorded an assist.

The three goals came against a Barrow side that managed few clear chances. Cambridge controlled possession for large stretches and created multiple opportunities, while Barrow’s attack struggled to break through.

The victory improved Cambridge’s league record to 22 wins, nine losses and 11 draws, while their overall mark across all competitions now stands at 27 wins, 10 losses and 11 draws. Barrow fell to 9-28-9 in league play and 9-30-9 overall.

The match featured three yellow cards. Barrow’s Jordan Williams was cautioned in the 48th minute for a foul. Cambridge’s Wyll Stanway received a yellow card in the 74th minute after his goal, and Jack Thompson was booked in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time.

Barrow entered the game on a difficult run. In their previous six matches, they had lost five, including a 3-1 defeat to Walsall on April 18, a 3-2 loss to Barnet on April 11 and a 1-0 loss to Chesterfield on April 6. Their lone win in that stretch was a 3-2 victory over Oldham Athletic on April 14. Barrow also drew 0-0 with Milton Keynes Dons on April 3. The team’s season has been marked by inconsistency, with only nine wins across all competitions and a propensity to concede goals.

Cambridge came off a 2-1 loss to Grimsby Town on April 21 but had been in good form prior. They drew 0-0 with Bromley on April 16 and defeated Notts County 4-0 on April 11. In their last five home matches, Cambridge had recorded three wins, one draw and one loss.

The two sides met earlier this season on Nov. 22, 2025, when Cambridge won 2-0 at Barrow.

Cambridge United will next travel to face Crewe Alexandra on May 2. Barrow will host Newport County on the same day.
