OLDHAM, England (Interstat) — Salford City opened its League Two season with a 2-1 comeback victory over Oldham Athletic on Saturday at Boundary Park, defying pregame projections.

Adebola Oluwo stunned the home crowd with a goal in the fourth minute for Salford. Oldham’s Josh Hawkes equalized in the 61st, but Salford substitute Daniel Udoh had already scored just before halftime in the 45+3 minute to secure the win. The match was contentious, featuring five yellow cards.

Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw, and its ELO system gave Oldham Athletic a 67.6% probability to win. Salford begins the campaign with a win, while Oldham starts with a loss.
