Barrow vs Walsall

WALSALL, England (Interstat) — Substitute Mason Hancock scored twice in the second half to power Walsall to a 3-1 comeback victory over Barrow in an English League Two match Saturday at SO Legal Stadium.

The result snapped a two-game losing skid for Walsall and solidified its mid-table standing, while Barrow’s struggles at the foot of the table continued with another home defeat.

Walsall entered the match having been shut out in its previous two contests, including a 4-0 home loss to Cheltenham Town on April 11. The visiting side fell behind early when Barrow’s Albert Adomah, also introduced as a substitute, opened the scoring in the 33rd minute.

Walsall found an immediate response before halftime. In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Hancock leveled the score with his first goal of the afternoon, sending the teams into the break tied 1-1.

Hancock then completed his brace and put Walsall ahead for good in the 68th minute, capitalizing on service from midfielder Joe Anderson. Anderson was shown a yellow card a minute prior to his assist for a foul.

The visitors sealed the victory in the 88th minute when forward Jovan Malcolm added a third goal, ensuring the three points for Walsall.

The match defied the pregame projection from Interstat, whose game simulator had predicted a 1-1 draw. Its ELO rating system, however, had given Walsall a 59.10 percent probability of victory, which proved accurate.

With the win, Walsall improved its League Two record to 18 wins, 15 losses and 11 draws this season. Across all competitions, the club now stands at 20 wins, 16 losses and 11 draws. The loss leaves Barrow with a league record of 9 wins, 27 losses and 10 draws, and an overall mark of 9 wins, 29 losses and 10 draws.

The result reversed the outcome of the last meeting between the two sides, a 2-1 Barrow victory when the teams played in Walsall on Oct. 18, 2025.

Walsall will look to build on the road win when it hosts Harrogate Town next Saturday in its final home match of the League Two season. Barrow, seeking to end a difficult campaign on a positive note, will travel to face Cambridge United next Saturday.
