Walsall vs Cheltenham Town
WALSALL, England (Interstat) — Walsall and Cheltenham Town meet in a League Two fixture on Saturday with both sides seeking a late-season boost in form.
The match at Bescot Stadium pits a middling Walsall side against a Cheltenham team mired in a winless run. The visitors won the reverse fixture 1-0 last October.
Cheltenham Town (12-14-15) arrives after a 1-1 home draw with Cambridge United on Monday, extending its winless streak to five matches across all competitions. Their last victory was a 3-2 result against Salford City on Feb. 21. A porous defense has been a consistent issue, conceding 11 goals in the last five outings.
Walsall (14-11-16) is also looking to rebound from a Monday defeat, falling 2-1 at Swindon Town. Their form has been inconsistent, with just two wins in their last ten league matches. However, they have been stronger at home recently, losing only once in their last five at Bescot Stadium.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is a 1-1 draw.
For Cheltenham, manager Darrell Clarke will hope forward Rob Street can provide a spark. Walsall will look to leading scorer Isaac Hutchinson to exploit Cheltenham’s defensive vulnerabilities.
The fixture is part of a congested April schedule. Cheltenham faces a quick turnaround, hosting Gillingham next Tuesday. Walsall’s next match is at Barrow on April 18.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time at Bescot Stadium.
