Barnet Routs Fleetwood Town in High-Scoring League Two Opener
BURNET, England (Interstat) — Barnet opened its League Two season with a dominant 5-2 victory over Fleetwood Town on Monday at Highbury Stadium. The visitors scored three times in a six-minute span early in the second half to break open a match that was projected to be a close contest.
Callum Stead, Anthony Hartigan and Harrison Neal scored consecutively from the 45th to 51st minutes. Kabongo Tshimanga and Diallang Jaiyesimi added late goals for Barnet. Fleetwood’s goals came from Mark Helm and Neal. The match turned just before halftime when Fleetwood’s Shaun Rooney received a red card, leaving the hosts with 10 men.
The result defied pre-match projections, which heavily favored Fleetwood. Barnet begins its campaign with a win, while Fleetwood seeks its first points.
