Fulham Upsets Chelsea in West London Derby
LONDON (Interstat) — Fulham FC defeated Chelsea 2-1 in a Premier League match Wednesday at Craven Cottage. The visitors played most of the match with 10 men after Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was sent off with a red card in the 22nd minute.
Raúl Jiménez opened the scoring for Fulham in the 55th minute. Chelsea substitute Liam Delap equalized in the 72nd, but Fulham’s Harry Wilson netted the winner nine minutes later. Jiménez also had an assist.
The match featured eight yellow cards. The result gave Fulham a winning start to its league campaign, while Chelsea began with a loss. The outcome defied a pre-match projection that favored Fulham but had forecast a draw.
