Chesterfield Opens League Two Campaign With Shutout Victory Over Notts County

CHESTERFIELD, England (Interstat) — Chesterfield began its League Two season with a 2-0 victory over Notts County on Friday at SMH Group Stadium. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which had forecast a 1-1 draw and gave Chesterfield a 55% probability to win.

After a first half featuring four yellow cards, Chesterfield broke through in the 65th minute. Forward Lee Bonis scored the opener, assisted by Tom Naylor. Substitute goalkeeper Kelle Roos, a rare scoring keeper, doubled the lead 11 minutes later with a goal assisted by Nicholas Tsaroulla.

The match saw eight total yellow cards. Chesterfield improved to 1-0-0 in the league, while Notts County fell to 0-1-0.
