Substitutes Spark Duisburg to Rout in Season Opener
MANNHEIM, Germany (Interstat) — MSV Duisburg opened its 3. Liga season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Waldhof Mannheim on Saturday at Carl-Benz-Stadion.
Substitute Dominik Kother led the charge with two first-half goals and an assist. Lex Lobinger, another substitute, and Felix Lohkemper also scored for the visitors. Thilo Töpken, also off the bench, added a late fourth.
Mannheim’s lone reply came from Lohkemper in the 61st minute. The match featured 10 yellow cards. The result defied a pregame projection that favored the hosts, handing Duisburg a winning start while Mannheim began with a loss.
