Budafoki MTE vs Fehervar
BUDAPEST, Hungary (Interstat) — A last-gasp equalizer from Bálint Selyem in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time secured a 2-2 draw for Budafoki MTE against Fehervar in a dramatic NB II contest Sunday at Promontor Utcai Stadion.
The match, part of Hungary’s second-tier league, saw both teams share the points in a back-and-forth encounter that defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which had given Fehervar a 54.7 percent probability to win and had simulated a 3-2 victory for the visitors.
Fehervar opened the scoring in the 35th minute through a goal from Roland Varga. The visitors carried that one-goal advantage deep into the second half, appearing poised to secure a road victory.
Budafoki MTE found its response in the 70th minute when Gergő Kocsis scored, leveling the match and energizing the home crowd. The momentum shifted decisively in Fehervar’s favor just 12 minutes later, however, as Máté Gyurkó found the net in the 82nd minute to put the visitors back in front, 2-1.
As the clock ticked into stoppage time, Fehervar seemed set to claim all three points. But in the final action of the match, Budafoki MTE’s Selyem scored the dramatic leveler, securing a point for the home side and capping the scoring at 2-2.
The result leaves both teams in the lower half of the NB II table as they continue to seek consistency in their campaigns.
