SAMREBOI, Ghana (Interstat) — Samartex opened its Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak on Sunday at Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Gabriel Osei scored the only goal in the 56th minute, finding the back of the net with a right-footed shot. The home side secured the win despite pregame expectations that favored the visitors.

The victory gave Samartex a 1-0 record in league play and across all competitions. Hearts of Oak dropped to 0-1 in both the league and all competitions.

The match was the season opener for both clubs in the Ghanaian top flight. Samartex’s defense held Hearts of Oak scoreless throughout the contest, limiting the visitor’s attacking opportunities.

Hearts of Oak entered the match as the slight favorite but could not convert chances into goals. The shutout loss marked a difficult start for the Accra-based club.

Samartex’s disciplined performance in front of its home crowd provided an early statement in the league campaign.
