AGONA SWEDRU, Ghana (Interstat) — Rudolf Mensah Jnr. scored in the 34th minute to lift Gamba All Blacks to a 1-0 victory over Hohoe United FC in a Ghana Premier League match Sunday at Swedru Stadium.

The lone goal gave the home side a measure of revenge for a 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture last October. The result moved Gamba All Blacks ahead of Hohoe United in the league table, improving its record to eight wins, 11 losses and 10 draws. Hohoe United’s record fell to 7-10-8.

The match defied pregame projections. A national statistical simulator had predicted a 1-0 win for the visitors, while a separate system heavily favored the hosts to win. Gamba All Blacks will visit Hearts of Oak next Sunday, while Hohoe United hosts Dreams.
