TAMALE, Ghana (Interstat) — Karela opened the Ghana Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Bechem Utd at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday. Defender Alhassan Ali headed in the opening goal in the 16th minute, and forward Bless Ege doubled the lead just before halftime in the 43rd. The result defied the Interstat game simulator, which had projected a 1-1 draw, though its ELO system gave Karela a 69 percent probability to win. Both clubs now hold 0-0 records to start the new campaign in all competitions.
