RIJEKA, Croatia (Interstat) — Two sides seeking their first Europa League points of the season will meet Thursday when Croatia’s Rijeka hosts Sparta Prague in Group D play.

Both clubs enter the match at Stadion HNK Rijeka with 0-1 records in the competition, adding urgency to the fixture as they look to keep pace in the group standings.

Sparta Prague arrives with strong domestic form, boasting a 12-5-2 record across all competitions. They are coming off a 2-1 road victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Czech First League on Sept. 20. Their European campaign, however, began with a loss.

Rijeka has been inconsistent this season, holding a 5-5-2 overall record. Their form in Europe has been a concern, including a 1-0 loss to FC Noah on Oct. 2 in their most recent outing. The Croatian side will look to leverage its home-field advantage to jumpstart its continental campaign.
