Watford vs Coventry City

WATFORD, England (Interstat) — Watford will host Coventry City on Saturday in a Championship match that pits a struggling home side against a visiting team riding a hot streak.

The Hornets enter the contest at Vicarage Road on a five-match winless run, having lost four of those games. Their most recent outing was a 5-1 defeat at Middlesbrough on April 25. That loss followed a 3-0 home setback against West Bromwich Albion and a 2-0 loss at Oxford United. Watford has not won since a 3-1 victory over Wrexham on March 17. Over their last 11 league matches, the Hornets have two wins, three draws and six losses, leaving them in the middle of the second-tier standings.

Coventry City, by contrast, has lost only once in its last 11 games, posting seven wins and three draws in that span. The Sky Blues defeated Wrexham 3-1 on April 26, their third victory in four matches. Earlier in April, Coventry routed Portsmouth 5-1 and Derby County 3-2, while earning draws at Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City. Their only defeat since early March came March 14 at Southampton, 2-1.

The two teams met Oct. 25 in Coventry, where the Sky Blues won 3-1. That result extended Coventry’s recent dominance in the series, though Watford will look to reverse that trend on home soil.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, reflective of Watford’s defensive struggles against a Coventry side that has scored 10 goals in its last four league outings. Coventry’s attack has been led by strong finishing in recent weeks, while Watford has conceded 12 goals in its last five games.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time.
