Coventry City Routs Portsmouth in Lopsided Championship Match
COVENTRY, England (Interstat) — Coventry City delivered a dominant performance Tuesday, thrashing Portsmouth 5-1 in a Championship match at Coventry Building Society Arena.
The home side took control early with Haji Wright opening the scoring in the 12th minute. Forward Ephron Mason-Clark led the charge with two goals, including a second-half strike in the 76th. Substitute Regan Poole scored for Portsmouth just after halftime, briefly making it 2-1, but Coventry responded with three unanswered goals.
Adrian Segečić, another substitute, and defender Kaine Kesler-Hayden also found the net for Coventry. The result extends Coventry’s strong league form while halting Portsmouth’s recent positive run. Coventry’s next match is Sunday against Wrexham, while Portsmouth travels to Stoke City on Saturday.
