ROUSSET, France (Interstat) — Cannes visits Rousset-Ste Victoire on Saturday, May 9, in a National 2 matchup that pits the in-form visitors against a home side mired in a deep slump.

Cannes enters the contest on a three-match winning streak, most recently defeating Grand Ouest Association Lyonnaise FC 2-1 on May 1. The club has won five of its last six outings, with the lone loss being a 3-0 defeat at Nimes on April 25. Earlier this month, Cannes beat Creteil-Lusitanos 3-0 and Grasse 3-1.

Rousset-Ste Victoire, by contrast, has lost eight of its last nine matches. The only bright spot was a 2-1 victory over Rumilly Vallieres on Feb. 14. Last Saturday, the team fell 1-0 at Hyeres.

The head-to-head record favors Cannes. In the most recent meeting on Jan. 17, Cannes blanked Rousset-Ste Victoire 3-0 at home.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Cannes.

Cannes’ recent form includes a 4-0 win at Frejus St-Raphael on March 21, a 4-2 loss at Toulon on March 28, and a 3-0 win over FC 93 Bobigny-Bagnolet-Gagny on April 3. The club also drew 1-1 at Rumilly Vallieres on March 14 and 1-1 at Istres on Feb. 21.

Rousset-Ste Victoire’s struggles have been pronounced. After the Feb. 14 win, the team lost 3-2 at Toulon on March 7, then suffered a 7-0 defeat at FC 93 on March 14, and a 5-2 home loss to Grasse on March 21. A 1-1 draw at Frejus on March 28 was followed by three consecutive losses: 2-1 to Nimes on April 4, 2-1 at Grand Ouest Association Lyonnaise on April 11, and 2-0 at Saint-Priest on April 18. On April 25, St Maur Lusitanos won 3-0 at Rousset.

Cannes’ other results this season include a 2-1 win at Andrezieux on Feb. 14, a 3-1 win at Limonest on March 6, and a 4-0 home win over Frejus on March 21.

Rousset-Ste Victoire’s full record includes a 3-1 loss at Frejus on Feb. 21 and a 1-3 loss to Frejus on the same date (note: two Frejus matches appear, possibly a scheduling anomaly; the Feb. 21 result is listed as Rousset-Ste Victoire 1 at Frejus St-Raphael 3, and the March 28 result as Rousset-Ste Victoire 1 at Frejus St-Raphael 1).

Both teams have quick turnarounds after Saturday. Cannes hosts St Maur Lusitanos on May 16, while Rousset-Ste Victoire travels to Andrezieux on the same date.

Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, at Stade de Rousset.
