1. FFC Fortuna Dresden vs Hohen Neuendorf

DRESDEN, Germany (Interstat) — 1. FFC Fortuna Dresden hosts Hohen Neuendorf on Sunday in a Regionalliga clash, with both sides seeking to halt recent slides.

Dresden (0-5-1 in its last six) is coming off a 5-0 loss at RB Leipzig II on May 10. The defeat extended a difficult stretch for the home side, which has lost five of its past six matches overall. Dresden’s lone point during that span came in a 1-1 draw with 1. FC Union Berlin II on May 3. The team has been outscored 14-3 in its last four outings.

Hohen Neuendorf (1-0-5 in its last six) also enters on a losing note, falling 2-0 at home to SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud on May 10. The visiting side has struggled significantly, surrendering at least three goals in five of its past seven contests. Hohen Neuendorf has been shut out in four of its last five matches.

The teams last met Nov. 16, when Dresden earned a 3-0 victory at Hohen Neuendorf. That result is Dresden’s most recent win in the series.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-2 draw.

Dresden’s defensive woes have been pronounced. The club has allowed five goals in two separate matches this season — against Hertha Berlin on March 29 and again in its most recent defeat. The attack has managed just one goal in the past three games.

Hohen Neuendorf’s road form offers little comfort. The team has lost five consecutive away matches by a combined 18-1 margin, including a 5-0 defeat at Magdeburg on April 18.

Both sides sit toward the lower end of the Regionalliga standings. Sunday’s match could have implications for relegation positioning as the season enters its final weeks.

Following Sunday’s contest, Hohen Neuendorf returns home to face Turkiyemspor R-B on May 31. Dresden travels to face 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on the same date.

Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
