SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud vs Hertha Berlin

AP Sports Preview

LEIPZIG, Germany (Interstat) — SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud will host Hertha Berlin on Sunday, April 26, in a Regionalliga matchup that could have playoff implications for both sides.

The game, scheduled for a 2 p.m. local kickoff at Sportpark Leipzig-Sud, brings together two clubs trending in opposite directions. Leipzig-Sud enters on a three-match winning streak after a 2-1 victory at 1. FC Union Berlin II on April 19. Hertha Berlin, meanwhile, is coming off a 1-0 win at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on the same day but has compiled a mixed record over the past two months.

The most recent head-to-head meeting, on Oct. 25, 2025, ended in a 1-1 draw in Berlin.

Leipzig-Sud (9th in the Regionalliga table) has been powered by an attack that has scored at least two goals in four of its past five matches. The team’s April 12 comeback win over Turkiyemspor R-B, a 3-2 decision, followed a 2-0 victory at 1. FFV Erfurt on March 29. However, defensive lapses remain a concern: Leipzig-Sud has conceded three or more goals in three of its past seven outings, including a 5-3 loss at Magdeburg on March 8.

Hertha Berlin (12th) has shown resilience despite an inconsistent stretch. The club’s 5-0 rout of Hohen Neuendorf on March 22 and a 4-0 blanking of Hansa Rostock on March 15 highlighted its offensive potential. But a 3-0 defeat at Bayern Munich on Feb. 7 and a 1-1 draw at Hoffenheim on March 2 underscored struggles against top-tier opposition. Hertha has not lost a league match since that Bayern setback, posting three wins and two draws in its past five.

Statistical projections from Interstat’s game simulator favor the home side, forecasting a 2-1 victory for SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud.

Hertha Berlin will face 1. FFV Erfurt at home on May 9 and Zeiss Jena II W on May 31 in its next two Regionalliga contests. Leipzig-Sud’s upcoming schedule includes a trip to Hohen Neuendorf on May 10, followed by visits to Hansa Rostock on May 17 and RB Leipzig II on May 30.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. local time. No television broadcast has been announced.
