Club Brugge Routs Qairat FK in Champions League Opener

ASTANA, Kazakhstan (Jan. 20, 2026) (Interstat) — Club Brugge delivered a dominant 4-1 away victory over Qairat FK in a Champions League group stage match Tuesday at Astana Arena. The Belgian side, defying a pre-match projection that favored the hosts, scored three unanswered goals after an early equalizer.

Aleksandar Stanković opened the scoring for Club Brugge in the 32nd minute. Hans Vanaken doubled the lead six minutes later. Second-half goals from Romeo Vermant and Brandon Mechele sealed the comprehensive win before Adilet Sadybekov scored a consolation goal for Qairat in second-half stoppage time. Sadybekov and teammate Egor Sorokin received yellow cards.

The result marked a winning start to Club Brugge’s European campaign, while Qairat FK began with a loss. Pre-game analytics from Interstat had projected a draw and gave the Kazakh side a slight probability edge to win.
