SSV Merten vs Siegburger SV
MERTEN, Germany (Interstat) — SSV Merten will host Siegburger SV on Sunday, June 7, in an Oberliga matchup that pits two of Germany’s fifth-division sides with contrasting recent form.
The game, set for a 3 p.m. local kickoff, is the second meeting between the clubs this season. SSV Merten won the reverse fixture 1-0 on Dec. 14, 2025, and enters the weekend with momentum after a 10-0 thrashing of Teutonia Weiden on May 31.
That victory was the latest in a dominant stretch for SSV Merten. The club is unbeaten in its last eight matches since a 1-0 loss to Fortuna Koeln II on March 15, posting seven wins and one draw in that span. The only blemish was a 2-2 tie at Wegberg-Beeck on May 17. Merten’s attack has been prolific, scoring at least four goals in six of those eight games, including an 8-3 win over SpVg Porz 1919 on May 22.
Siegburger SV, meanwhile, comes off a 3-0 win against Hennef 05 on May 31, snapping a two-match winless streak. Prior to that, Siegburger drew 0-0 with Pesch on May 17 and 3-3 at VfL Vichttal on May 25. Over their last 10 outings, Siegburger has won six, drawn three and lost one, with the sole defeat coming to Merten in December.
Overall, Siegburger has been strong defensively, keeping clean sheets in five of its past 10 matches. But Merten’s firepower could pose problems: the home side has scored 44 goals in its last 10 games, while Siegburger has conceded 14 in that same stretch.
The Oberliga, part of the fifth tier of German football, often produces high-scoring affairs, and Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for the home side.
Key players for Merten include the forwards who powered the 10-goal outburst against Weiden. For Siegburger, a disciplined back line and counterattacking midfield will try to spoil Merten’s run.
Sunday’s match will be played at Merten’s home ground, with both teams jockeying for position in the league table as the season nears its conclusion.
