Flenu vs RCS Brainois

FLENU, Belgium (Interstat) — Substitute Basile Rolin scored twice, including a late winner, to lift visiting RCS Brainois to a 2-1 victory over Flenu in a pivotal Belgian Division 2 match on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Complexe Sportif de Flénu.

The result, which defied pre-game statistical projections, tightened the standings near the top of the division. Both clubs entered the contest with identical league records of 17 wins, 5 draws and 8 losses, making the head-to-head clash critical for playoff positioning. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw, while its ELO rating system gave Flenu a 75.6 percent probability to win at home.

Rolin, introduced off the bench, needed only 10 minutes to make an impact, putting Brainois ahead early. The visiting side carried that 1-0 lead into the second half despite seeing substitute Aissa Saïdane booked just before halftime in the 43rd minute.

Flenu found an equalizer in the 65th minute through another substitute, Loïc Van Landschoot, setting up a tense final quarter-hour. The momentum was short-lived, however, as Rolin struck again in the 82nd minute to restore Brainois’ lead. The decisive goal was assisted by defender Arno Ouzrouhene, who received a yellow card a minute prior. Brainois substitute Guillaume Kangele, also booked in the 60th minute, provided an assist on the day.

The victory completed a season sweep for RCS Brainois over Flenu, having also won the first meeting 3-2 on Aug. 30, 2025. It extends Brainois’ unbeaten run in the league to four matches, with their last loss coming on March 21. The win improves their Division 2 record to 18 wins, 5 draws and 8 losses, moving them ahead of Flenu, which now stands at 17 wins, 5 draws and 9 losses.

Across all competitions, RCS Brainois is now 18-9-5, while Flenu falls to 17-10-5.

The match was a physical affair, with all three yellow cards issued to RCS Brainois players: Saïdane, Kangele and Ouzrouhene.

With the win, RCS Brainois gains a valuable three points as the season enters its final stretch. The team will look to continue its form when it hosts Onhaye next Saturday, April 11. Flenu, seeking to rebound from consecutive losses, will travel to face RFC Union La Calamine on the same day.
