Flenu vs Royal Aywaille FC

FLENU, Belgium (Interstat) — Flenu delivered a devastating first-half blitz, scoring four goals in a 10-minute span, to overpower Royal Aywaille FC 4-1 on Sunday in a Belgian Division 2 match at Complexe Sportif de Flénu.

The match, which had been projected to be a comfortable Flenu victory, turned into a stunning rout before halftime. The home side’s offensive explosion began quietly with a goal from substitute Billy Bokoto in the 15th minute. The floodgates then opened in a remarkable sequence just before the break.

Midfielder Mégan Laurent doubled Flenu’s lead in the 36th minute. Just one minute later, fellow midfielder Samir Belasfar made it 3-0. Defender Mohan Lagneaux then took over, heading in a goal in the 39th minute to extend the lead to 4-0 before completing his brace with another strike in the 43rd minute.

Lagneaux’s two-goal performance from defense anchored a dominant display that saw Flenu seize control of the match with ruthless efficiency. The assists on the rapid-fire goals came from midfielders and substitutes, including Sofiane Ben Madhkour, Thomas Cristallini and Ougailou Konaté, highlighting the depth of Flenu’s attacking options.

Royal Aywaille FC, which has struggled for consistency this season, managed a second-half goal to avoid a shutout but never threatened a comeback. The visitors’ defense was completely overwhelmed during the decisive period.

The victory solidifies Flenu’s strong position in the Division 2 table, improving its league record to 15 wins, seven losses and four draws. The team’s form has been formidable, with this win marking its third consecutive league match without a loss and its sixth win in the last eight outings.

For Royal Aywaille FC, the defeat extends a difficult run. The club has now lost three of its last four matches and holds a league record of eight wins, 14 losses and five draws. The team’s defensive frailties were starkly exposed, having conceded three or more goals in four of its last five games.

The match was not without its contentious moments, as three yellow cards were issued in a 15-minute span early in the second half. Flenu’ Ben Madhkour was booked in the 56th minute, followed by Royal Aywaille FC’s Cristallini in the 59th and Flenu’s Konaté in the 71st.

The result completed a season sweep for Flenu over Royal Aywaille FC, having also won the reverse fixture 3-1 on Sept. 14. The lopsided scoreline even exceeded the pregame projection from Interstat’s game simulator, which had forecast a 3-1 Flenu victory. Their ELO rating system had given Flenu an 84.8% probability to win.

Flenu will look to carry this momentum into its next match, an away fixture against Sporting Bruxelles on March 15. Royal Aywaille FC, seeking to halt its slide, will host Stade Vervietois on the same date.
