RFC 1912 Raeren-Eynatten vs Onhaye
RAEREN, Belgium (Interstat) — Substitute attackers Grégoire Guiot and Clément Choisez scored second-half goals to power Onhaye to a 2-0 victory over RFC 1912 Raeren-Eynatten in a Belgian Division 2 match on Sunday.
The win at Stadion FC 1912 Raeren-Eynatten improved Onhaye’s league record to five wins, four losses and one draw, moving them ahead of their hosts in the table, as both teams now have five wins and four losses, but Raeren-Eynatten has two draws.
The match was a defensive stalemate for much of the first half, defying pregame projections. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw, while its ELO system gave Onhaye a 67.6 percent probability to win.
The deadlock was broken in the 24th minute by Onhaye’s Guiot, who had come off the bench. The goal was assisted by defender Fabrice Stoffels, initiating a sequence of events that would see both providers booked. Just a minute after the goal, Raeren-Eynatten’s Jason Krhlanko received a yellow card.
The home side struggled to mount a consistent offensive threat against an organized Onhaye defense. The match grew increasingly physical after the break, with two more yellow cards issued in a five-minute span. Stoffels was booked in the 65th minute for Onhaye, followed by his teammate Anthony Lorenzon in the 70th minute.
Any hope of a Raeren-Eynatten comeback was extinguished just two minutes after Lorenzon’s booking. In the 72nd minute, Choisez, another second-half substitute, found the net to double Onhaye’s lead. The insurance goal was set up by assists from both Lorenzon and Krhlanko, the latter managing to contribute offensively despite his earlier caution.
The victory extends Onhaye’s positive form in league play, having now won three of their last four Division 2 matches, including a 3-2 result against Royal Aywaille FC on Oct. 26. Their overall record across all competitions this season stands at seven wins, six losses and two draws.
For RFC 1912 Raeren-Eynatten, the loss halts the momentum they had built with back-to-back wins against FC United Richelle and RSC Tilffois in their previous two outings. Their overall record, mirroring their league performance, is five wins, four losses and two draws.
Onhaye will look to continue its climb up the table when it visits RFC Union La Calamine next Saturday. RFC 1912 Raeren-Eynatten, seeking to rebound from the shutout defeat, will travel to face Stade Vervietois, also on Saturday.
