PAMEKASAN, Indonesia (Interstat) — Borneo began its Liga 1 campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Madura United on Sunday at Stadion Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan.

Substitute Koldo Obieta led the visitors with two goals, opening the scoring in the second minute and adding another in the 60th. Fellow substitute Christophe Nduwarugira scored Borneo’s second in the 42nd minute.

Madura United avoided a shutout with a stoppage-time goal from substitute Mariano Peralta, assisted by midfielder Ahmad Nufiandani, who also received a yellow card in the 31st minute. The result defied a pregame projection of a 1-1 draw, confirming Borneo’s status as a heavy favorite.
