Persitara Jakarta Utara vs Borneo
JAKARTA, Indonesia (Interstat) — In a chaotic and dramatic finish at Stadion Internasional Jakarta, Persitara Jakarta Utara snatched a stoppage-time equalizer to secure a 2-2 draw with Borneo in a pivotal Liga 1 match on Tuesday.
The result, which saw both teams trade leads before a final, desperate goal, did little to separate two sides locked in a tight battle near the top of the Indonesian league table. The draw leaves both clubs with identical league records of 16 wins, five losses and either two draws for Borneo or four for Persitara.
The match was a physical affair from the outset, with five yellow cards brandished in a contentious first half alone. The tension finally yielded a breakthrough in the 47th minute when Persitara’s forward Gustavo found the net, sending the home supporters into a frenzy.
Borneo responded with resilience. Just past the hour mark, substitute Juan Ruiz leveled the score in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on a period of sustained pressure from the visitors. The momentum fully shifted Borneo’s way twelve minutes later when defender Fábio Silva, who had already assisted Ruiz’s goal, put his team ahead with a goal of his own in the 74th minute.
As the match entered second-half stoppage time, Borneo appeared poised to avenge their only prior meeting this season, a 3-1 loss to Persitara last September. However, in the fourth added minute, Persitara’s substitute Ikhsan Zikrak delivered a moment of high drama. Zikrak, who had entered the match as part of a series of tactical changes, netted the decisive equalizer to salvage a critical point for the home side. His goal came just moments after he received a yellow card, adding to a game total of nine cautions.
The key performances came from the substitutes and a goal-scoring defender. Ikhsan Zikrak’s late heroics, featuring a goal and an assist, were paramount for Persitara. For Borneo, defender Fábio Silva was instrumental in their comeback, contributing both a goal and an assist. Fellow substitute Juan Ruiz provided the crucial first equalizer, while Gustavo’s first-half strike had initially put Persitara in command.
The result halts a positive momentum streak for Borneo, who were coming off a 3-1 victory over Arema in their previous outing. Persitara, meanwhile, extends its unbeaten run to four matches across all competitions.
Both teams now look ahead to a congested fixture list as the Liga 1 season progresses. Borneo will next host Persebaya Surabaya on Saturday. Persitara Jakarta Utara’s next challenge is at home against Dewa United on March 15.
The match defied pre-game projections. Interstat’s game simulator had predicted a 1-1 draw, while its ELO rating system gave Borneo a 54.3 percent probability of securing all three points. In the end, the late drama ensured the points were shared, keeping the league table exceptionally tight at the summit.
