Matoury vs Grand Santi
CAYENNE, French Guiana (Interstat) — Matoury hosts Grand Santi on Saturday in a Régional 1 matchup that pits the league’s hottest offense against a visiting side desperate to halt a recent slide.
Kickoff is set for Saturday, May 23, at Matoury.
Matoury enters on the heels of a dominant performance, routing Remire 9-0 on May 16. That victory extended a strong run for the home side, which has won four of its last five matches by a combined margin of 17-2. The lone blemish in that stretch was a 3-1 loss to Sinnamary on May 9, followed immediately by a 1-1 draw with Cosma later the same day.
Grand Santi, by contrast, is coming off a 3-2 loss to ASC Karib on May 17. The defeat was the third consecutive match without a win for Grand Santi, who have drawn three times and lost once in their last four outings dating to mid-April. Their last victory came Feb. 7, a 1-0 decision over d’Or de Mana.
The head-to-head series this season favors Matoury, which swept both meetings in the 2025-26 campaign. Grand Santi fell 3-0 at Matoury on Aug. 30 and lost 3-2 at home on Nov. 22.
The Interstat sports simulator projects a 1-1 draw.
Matoury’s recent scoring surge has been fueled by depth. In the Remire match alone, the team found the net nine times. Grand Santi’s defense, meanwhile, has allowed 10 goals over its last six games.
Saturday’s contest carries weight in the Régional 1 standings. A win for Matoury would further solidify the home side’s positioning, while Grand Santi looks to avoid falling further behind with the return leg scheduled for May 31 at Grand Santi.
Matoury will also face Cosma on May 23 in a separate fixture, a scheduling quirk that tests roster depth. Grand Santi’s upcoming slate includes matches against Olymp de Cayenne and Agouado in early June.
