RIJKEVORSEL, Belgium (Interstat) — KFC Zwarte Leeuw defeated first-place KVC Wilrijk 1-0 in a Belgian Division 3 match Saturday at Louis Van Roeystadion.

Midfielder Nick Verboven scored the game’s only goal in the 15th minute. The score came against the run of statistical projections, which heavily favored Wilrijk.

The visitors, who entered the match with only four losses this season, were held scoreless by a Zwarte Leeuw defense that secured just its fifth league win. The match grew chippy in the second half, with four yellow cards issued between the 55th and 88th minutes.

The result marked a significant upset in the league standings, dealing Wilrijk a rare defeat while providing Zwarte Leeuw with a bright spot in a difficult campaign.
