GENK, Belgium (Interstat) — Thijs van Pol came off the bench to score four goals Saturday, powering AS Verbroedering Geel to a 6-0 away victory over Turkse Waterschei in a Belgian Division 3 match at Terrein Turkse Rangers.

Van Pol, a substitute, netted in the 26th, 37th, 42nd and 88th minutes. Fellow substitutes Sander Vereijken and Wouter Smeets also scored as Geel tallied five times in a dominant first-half span from the 19th to 42nd minute.

The lopsided result defied a pregame statistical projection of a 1-1 draw. Geel improved its league record to 12 wins, 8 draws and 7 losses. Waterschei’s struggles continued, falling to 5 wins, 9 draws and 18 losses. Geel also defeated Waterschei 5-0 in their previous meeting last November.
