Cobresal vs Union Espanola
EL SALVADOR, Chile (Interstat) — Cobresal hosts Union Espanola on Sunday in a Chilean Primera División match pitting a mid-table side against a team mired at the bottom of the table.
Cobresal (14-11-3) enters the contest in stronger form, sitting seventh in the domestic league. The Miners are coming off a 2-0 loss to Deportes Limache on Oct. 18 but had won three of their previous four matches.
Union Espanola (7-22-2) is 15th in the 16-team league and has struggled defensively, conceding a league-worst 78 goals. Its season was buoyed by a surprising 4-2 victory over Huachipato on Oct. 12, one of its few recent bright spots.
Recent history favors the hosts. Cobresal has won the last two head-to-head meetings, both 1-0 victories at Union Espanola in early May.
According to the Interstat game simulator, the most likely outcome is a 1-1 draw. The match will be played at El Cobre Stadium.
Following this fixture, Cobresal travels to face Audax Italiano on Oct. 31. Union Espanola’s next match is Nov. 2 at Everton.
