Preview: Carnoux Football vs. Bourgoin-Jallieu

A critical National 3 fixture in France’s fifth tier will see Carnoux Football host Bourgoin-Jallieu on Saturday, April 18, 2026, with the visitors looking to solidify their form and the desperate hosts seeking to halt a brutal slide.

Bourgoin-Jallieu (8-7-8) enters with momentum, coming off a dramatic 3-2 home victory over Stade Beaucairois on April 10. Their recent form has been inconsistent but potent, with three wins in their last five matches. They also carry a psychological edge from the season’s prior meeting, a 2-1 home win over Carnoux on Dec. 13, 2025.

In stark contrast, Carnoux Football (3-6-14) is reeling from historic defeats. They were demolished 6-0 at Lyon La Duchere on April 11 and suffered an 8-0 home loss to Olympique Ales-en-Cevennes on March 28. The club has conceded 14 goals in its last two matches and has only one win in its last 10 outings, a 3-2 victory over ASPTT Dijon on Feb. 21.

The statistical projection from Interstat favors the visitors, simulating a 2-1 victory for Bourgoin-Jallieu. This aligns with Bourgoin’s recent ability to secure results and Carnoux’s defensive fragility.

Key for Bourgoin will be translating its decent home form (Interstat) — where it earned recent wins over Beaucairois and Gallia Lucciana (Interstat) — to the road, where it has struggled at times this season. For Carnoux, the task is foundational: stabilizing a defense that has repeatedly been breached in catastrophic fashion.

The matchup presents a clear dichotomy: a Bourgoin-Jallieu side fighting to climb the table against a Carnoux Football team in a dire battle for survival. A win for the visitors would reinforce their mid-table security, while anything less than three points at home would deepen the crisis for Carnoux.
