Chicago Stars vs Angel City FC
CHICAGO (Interstat) — Two NWSL sides looking to salvage difficult seasons will meet Sunday when the Chicago Stars host Angel City FC.
The matchup at SeatGeek Stadium pits a pair of teams well out of playoff contention. Angel City FC (9-16-7) enters the contest in 11th place, while the Chicago Stars (2-14-11) sit at the bottom of the 14-team league table.
Despite their struggles, the teams played to an entertaining 2-2 draw in their last meeting on June 7 in Los Angeles.
Angel City FC aims to rebound from a 2-0 home loss to the Portland Thorns on Oct. 19. Their form has been inconsistent, with a 2-0 win over the Houston Dash on Oct. 12 preceded by a three-game losing streak.
The Chicago Stars are seeking any positive momentum after a disastrous 6-1 road defeat to the San Diego Wave on Oct. 18. Defense has been a persistent issue for the Stars, who have conceded a league-worst 47 goals this season. Their last win in any competition was a 5-2 victory over the Orlando Pride on Sept. 7.
According to the Interstat game simulator, the most likely outcome is another tightly contested draw, with a projected final score of 1-1.
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CST on Sunday.
