DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania (Interstat) — Azam FC hosts Dodoma Jiji on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in a Ligi Kuu Bara matchup that pits a surging home side against a visiting team desperate to reverse a lopsided recent history.

Azam FC enters the contest on the back of a dominant run. The team recorded a 2-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons on Friday, May 22, with a clean sheet that extended a strong defensive stretch. Earlier this week, Azam defeated Pamba Jiji 2-0 on May 14, a match in which forward Bola Kitambala scored one goal before being substituted. Kitambala has emerged as a key attacking threat for the home side.

Dodoma Jiji arrives following a 1-1 draw against Mashujaa FC on Wednesday, May 20. That result snapped a two-match winning streak but demonstrated resilience. In their most recent victory, Dodoma Jiji defeated Young Africans SC 3-2 on May 13, a match in which midfielder Mwana Kibuta recorded an assist before being substituted. Kibuta’s creativity in the final third will be critical against a stout Azam defense.

The head-to-head history strongly favors the home side. On March 11, Azam FC defeated Dodoma Jiji 3-0 in Dodoma, a result that extended Azam’s dominance in the series. Azam has kept clean sheets in three of its last four matches across all competitions, while Dodoma Jiji has scored in two of its last three.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-0 victory for Azam FC. The organization’s ELO system gives Azam a 76.40 percent probability of winning.

Dodoma Jiji’s recent form has been inconsistent. Over its last 10 matches, the team has recorded four wins, four draws and two losses, scoring nine goals while conceding six. However, three of those wins came against lower-tier opposition. Azam FC’s form has been steadier: four wins, five draws and one loss in its last 10, with eight goals scored and only three conceded.

The match carries implications for positioning in the Ligi Kuu Bara standings. Azam FC will face Young Africans SC on June 24 and Coastal Union on June 27. Dodoma Jiji’s upcoming schedule includes a match at Tanzania Prisons on June 14, followed by home games against JKT Tanzania on June 24 and Mbeya City on June 27.

Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday evening at Azam FC’s home ground in Dar es Salaam.
