REGENSBURG, Germany (Interstat) — Jahn Regensburg opened its 3. Liga campaign with a 2-1 victory over Wehen Wiesbaden on Saturday at Jahnstadion.

Noel Eichinger put the hosts ahead in the 28th minute. Defender Malte Karbstein doubled the lead in the 74th, also assisting on the opener. Substitute Moritz Flotho pulled one back for Wiesbaden in the 86th, but Regensburg held on.

The result defied Interstat’s projection of a 1-1 draw. Regensburg began the season with a win, while Wiesbaden started with a loss. Five yellow cards were issued in a physical match.
