RB Leipzig II vs SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud

LEIPZIG, Germany (Interstat) – RB Leipzig II will host SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud on Sunday, May 31, in a Regionalliga women’s soccer match that pits the league’s hottest offense against a gritty rival.

Leipzig II enters the fixture on a tear, having won its last four matches by a combined 23-1 margin. Most recently, the reserve side demolished 1. FFV Erfurt 6-1 on Tuesday, May 26. That victory followed a 5-0 shutout of 1. FFC Fortuna Dresden on May 10, an 8-0 annihilation of Hansa Rostock on April 19 and a 5-3 win over 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on April 12. Only Hertha Berlin has managed to beat Leipzig II this season, winning 2-1 on March 8, and the only blemish since then was a 1-1 draw at Magdeburg on March 15.

SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud, meanwhile, has been inconsistent but enters with momentum after a 3-0 victory at Hansa Rostock on May 17. That result snapped a two-game losing streak – 2-1 at Hertha Berlin on April 26 and a 2-1 defeat to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on Dec. 7. Sandwiched between those losses were wins over Hohen Neuendorf (2-0 on May 10), 1. FC Union Berlin II (2-1 on April 19) and Turkiyemspor R-B (3-2 on April 12). The visitors have shown resilience, scoring at least two goals in seven of their last 10 outings.

When the teams met Nov. 30, Leipzig II won a narrow 3-2 decision on the road. The home side has been far more prolific this spring, averaging nearly seven goals per game over its last four matches. SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud has been leaky defensively, conceding 10 goals in its last three losses, but the clean sheet against Rostock suggests improvement.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-1 victory for RB Leipzig II. The match is set for a 2 p.m. local kickoff at the RB Leipzig training ground. With Leipzig II chasing promotion and SV Eintracht Leipzig-Sud fighting for mid-table respectability, both sides have plenty to play for in the penultimate weekend of the Regionalliga season.
