OSTENDE, Belgium (Interstat) — KV Diksmuide Oostende and visiting Jong Essevee played to a scoreless draw in a Belgian Division 2 match Saturday at Batimont Solar Park.

The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side. Neither attack could break through in a contest defined more by cautions than chances. Five yellow cards were issued, with Jong Essevee’s Kadir Seven receiving the first in the 8th minute.

The tie extends Diksmuide Oostende’s strong form, leaving it with a record of 14 wins, 4 losses and 7 draws in the league. Jong Essevee’s record moves to 12 wins, 20 losses and 10 draws. The teams last met in December, a 3-1 victory for Diksmuide Oostende, but a repeat offensive performance failed to materialize in this encounter.
