Substitutes Lead Plymouth Argyle to Season-Opening Win at Barnsley
BARNSLEY, England (April 6, 2026) (Interstat) — Plymouth Argyle opened its League One season with a 3-0 road victory over Barnsley at Oakwell Stadium on Monday, defying a pregame projection of a draw.
Substitutes fueled the win. Owen Oseni opened the scoring in the 16th minute and later added a second goal. Fellow substitute Lorent Tolaj scored in the 57th minute to seal the result. Defender Jack Shepherd and substitute Mathias Ross each recorded an assist.
The result marked a successful start for Argyle, which was given a 53.2% win probability by Interstat’s ELO system. Barnsley, held scoreless at home, began its campaign with a loss.
Both Ross and Shepherd received yellow cards during the match.
