NGUZI, Burundi (Interstat) — Corinthians W dominated Ceará 14-2 on Sunday in a Brasileiro Women match at Stade Urukundo, far surpassing projections.

Midfielder Diany Aparecida Martins Xavier led the offensive explosion with three goals for the home side. Corinthians scored five times in a seven-minute span late in the first half to secure the Week 1 victory.

The result gives Ceará a winning record to start its league season, while Corinthians W evened its mark after a prior loss. The lopsided score defied a pregame statistical projection that heavily favored Corinthians but forecast a low-scoring draw.
