Gütersloh vs SGS Essen
GÜTERSLOH, Germany (Interstat) — Gütersloh Women will host SGS Essen Women in a women’s club friendly Wednesday, April 29, at a venue to be announced.
The match comes just over two months after Gütersloh beat Essen 2-0 on Feb. 14. That result was the most recent for both sides, though each has played one other match this season.
Essen drew 2-2 at Borussia Bocholt on Jan. 29. Gütersloh lost 2-0 at home to 1.FC Magdeburg Women on Aug. 17, 2025, and played to a 1-1 draw at Wolfsburg II on Aug. 9, 2025. Both of those results fall within the current campaign for the Club Friendlies Women competition.
Analytical models offer conflicting outlooks. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-2 draw. However, Interstat’s ELO system gives Essen an 85.50 percent probability of victory, making the visitors heavy favorites despite their most recent loss to Gütersloh.
Gütersloh enters the friendly with momentum from its shutout win in February. The club’s defense was particularly effective, limiting Essen to few clear chances. Essen, meanwhile, will look to rebound after conceding two goals in its draw with Bocholt.
Wednesday’s match marks the second meeting between the two sides this season. The game is not part of a league or cup competition, but both teams are expected to use the fixture to test lineups and build fitness ahead of future commitments.
