SAMTREDIA, Georgia (Jan. 14, 2026) (Interstat) — Telavi began its Erovnuli Liga campaign with a 1-0 victory at Samtredia on Wednesday, aided by a second-half own goal. The match’s lone score came in the 65th minute when Samtredia defender Zviad Natchkebia inadvertently put the ball into his own net. The result at Stadioni Erosi Manjgaladze gave Telavi a winning start in Week 1 of Georgia’s top flight, defying pre-game projections that favored the home side. Samtredia’s frustration showed with late yellow cards to Levan Khmaladze and Oluwadamilare Mathew Olatunji. Tornike Dundua of Telavi also received a booking in the first half. Telavi starts the season 1-0, while Samtredia opens 0-1.
