KHOR FAKKAN, United Arab Emirates (Interstat) — Khorfakkan defeated Bani Yas 1-0 in a UAE Arabian Gulf League match Saturday at Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium. The lone goal came in the 71st minute from Khorfakkan attacker Fábio Gonçalves Abreu.

The match was a defensive struggle with Bani Yas reduced to 10 men after Bruno Baio received a red card in the 68th minute. The visitors’ best chances came earlier, with midfielders Nicolás Ezequiel Giménez and Gastón Maximiliano Álvarez Suárez forcing action. Khorfakkan’s victory improved its league record to 1-0, while Bani Yas fell to 0-1. The result defied a pregame statistical projection that favored a draw.
