NJERU, Uganda (Interstat) — Busoga United delivered a major upset Saturday, defeating heavily favored Vipers 2-0 in a CAF Champions League match at the FUFA Technical Centre. The result defied a pregame projection that gave Vipers a 90.6% chance to win.

Aboubacar Diakité opened the scoring with a header in the 46th minute. Jack Diarra sealed the victory for the home side with a right-footed goal in the 81st minute. Hamza Jelassi and Houssem Tka were among five players shown yellow cards in the physical Week 15 fixture.

The win gives Busoga United a perfect start in the competition, moving to 1-0-0. Vipers, organized by the UGA Premier League, fell to 0-1-0 with the loss.
