STEINSEL, Luxembourg (Interstat) — Alisont Steinsel hosts Marisca Mersch on Friday, May 8, in a Week 15 Promotion d’Honneur matchup that pits two teams in dire need of a turnaround.

Both sides enter the contest at the Stade Henri Groothertog following lopsided losses in their most recent outings. Marisca Mersch fell 7-0 at Wiltz on Sunday, May 3, while Alisont Steinsel dropped a 3-0 decision at Feulen the same day.

The clubs met just one month ago, with Marisca Mersch claiming a 4-1 victory at Alisont Steinsel on April 8. That result reversed a 2-1 win for Alisont Steinsel on Marisca Mersch’s home ground last October.

Marisca Mersch has struggled for consistency this season. The April 8 win over Alisont Steinsel is their only victory in the past seven matches across all competitions. In that stretch, they have managed draws against Res Walferdange (3-3 on April 26) and Lorentzweiler (2-2 on March 8) but suffered four defeats, including a 4-3 loss to Etzella Ettelbruck on April 19 and a 2-1 loss to Koeppchen on April 12.

Alisont Steinsel’s form has been equally troubling. The club has lost five of its last six matches, the sole bright spot being a 1-0 home victory over Koeppchen on March 8. Since that win, Alisont Steinsel has been outscored 14-2 in five consecutive defeats, including a 3-2 home loss to Bettembourg on April 26 and a 4-0 drubbing at Fola Esch on April 11.

The two projections offer conflicting outlooks. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 3-1 victory for Alisont Steinsel. However, Interstat’s ELO system gives Marisca Mersch a 62 percent probability of winning.

After Friday’s fixture, Marisca Mersch returns home to face FC Scheffleng 95 on May 10. Alisont Steinsel also plays May 10, hosting Rumelange.
