Shakhtyor vs Belshina

SALIHORSK, Belarus (Interstat) — Shakhtyor will host Belshina on Saturday, May 2, in Week 30 of the Belarusian Premier League, with the home side carrying a lopsided statistical advantage but needing to reverse a recent stumble.

The match kicks off at Stadyen Budaŭnik in Salihorsk. Shakhtyor enters with a 95.60 percent win probability according to Interstat’s ELO system, which projects a 2-1 final score in favor of the hosts.

Shakhtyor (13-10-6, 49 points) is coming off a 1-0 road win at Dinamo Minsk on March 13. That result halted a two-match skid that included a 3-0 defeat at Slutsk on Jan. 17. The loss at Slutsk was Shakhtyor’s worst of the season and exposed defensive vulnerabilities that Belshina might try to exploit.

Belshina (8-7-14, 31 points) lost its most recent fixture 2-1 at home to Dinamo Brest on March 16. That defeat extended a difficult stretch; the Bobruisk-based side also lost 1-0 at Slavia on Jan. 17. Belshina has now lost three of its last four league matches and sits 11th in the 16-team table, five points above the relegation playoff spot.

Saturday’s game carries different stakes for each side. Shakhtyor is battling for a top-three finish and a potential spot in European competition. With four matches left after this weekend, every point matters in a tight race — Shakhtyor sits fourth, two points behind third-place Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino. Belshina, meanwhile, needs points to secure safety. A loss could pull the club closer to the relegation zone, especially if results elsewhere go against them.

The historical record favors Shakhtyor. The home side has won five of the last seven meetings between the clubs, with one draw and one Belshina victory. That win came in September 2024, when Belshina won 1-0 in Salihorsk.

Shakhtyor’s attack has been inconsistent but dangerous. Forward Maksim Skavysh leads the team with nine goals, while Denis Kovalevich has added six assists. Belshina will rely on Artem Kontsevoy, who has scored seven goals this season, to generate chances against a Shakhtyor defense that has kept five clean sheets at home.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time. The match will be streamed live on the league’s official platform.
