Tottenham Hotspur vs Roma

HAIFA, Israel (Interstat) — Tottenham Hotspur faces Roma in a Club Friendlies match Wednesday at Sammy Ofer Stadium, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. local time.

The exhibition, part of a worldwide series of Club Friendlies, pits two European sides seeking momentum ahead of their domestic campaigns. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, while Interstat’s ELO system gives Tottenham a 77.30 percent probability of victory.

Tottenham enters the match on the heels of a 2-1 win at Aston Villa on Sunday, May 3. The result snapped a stretch of inconsistent form. Prior to that, Tottenham had lost three of its previous four league outings, including a 1-0 defeat at Sunderland on April 12, a 3-1 loss at Brentford on April 12 (Interstat) — a rare double-matchday (Interstat) — and a 3-0 humbling at Nottingham Forest on March 22.

A 2-2 draw at Brighton & Hove on April 18 provided a brief reprieve before the Aston Villa victory. Overall, Tottenham has won two of its last five matches across all competitions. The North London side’s recent struggles have been compounded by defensive lapses, conceding at least two goals in five of its last seven matches.

Roma arrives in better form, having won its most recent outing, a 2-0 victory over Torino on Friday, April 10. The result extended Roma’s unbeaten run to three matches. Prior to that, Roma defeated Salernitana 1-0 on March 21 and played to a 0-0 draw against Inter Milan on Feb. 21.

However, Roma’s campaign has been marked by a notable high and low. The Giallorossi recorded a dominant 2-0 win over AC Milan on Feb. 7, but suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at Fiorentina on March 28. Roma’s defensive record has been solid, keeping clean sheets in three of its last four matches, including the shutout of Inter.

This fixture serves as a tuneup for Tottenham’s upcoming Premier League schedule. Following Wednesday’s friendly, Tottenham faces Leeds United at home on Monday, May 11, travels to Chelsea on Tuesday, May 19, and hosts Everton on Sunday, May 24.

Wednesday’s match will be played at Sammy Ofer Stadium, a 30,820-seat venue on Israel’s Mediterranean coast. The stadium typically hosts Maccabi Haifa and the Israeli national team in addition to international friendlies like this one.
