Samegrelo, Georgia (Interstat) — Two Georgian clubs seeking their first win of the David Kipiani Cup campaign will meet Saturday when FC Samegrelo hosts FC Merani Martvili.

The cup fixture, part of the domestic competition named for the late Georgian football legend David Kipiani, pits a Samegrelo side returning to official play after a lengthy hiatus against a Merani Martvili squad coming off a recent draw.

Samegrelo has not played a competitive match since a 7-0 defeat to Betlemi on May 13, 2023. Merani Martvili enters with more recent form, having secured a 1-1 draw against Lokomotivi Tbilisi on Oct. 26.

Despite the stark contrast in recent activity, statistical projections point to a tight contest. The Interstat game simulator forecasts a 1-1 draw. However, its ELO rating system gives Merani Martvili a significant advantage, projecting the visitors with a 66.5 percent probability of victory.

Both teams hold identical 0-0 records in the David Kipiani Cup this season. Their overall records across all competitions also stand at 0-0.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, with Samegrelo as the designated home team.
