Achuapa vs Santa Lucía

JUTIAPA, Guatemala (Interstat) — Achuapa will host Santa Lucia at Estadio Winston Pineda on Saturday in a Week 12 matchup of Guatemala’s Liga Nacional.

Santa Lucia enters the contest on a high note, having defeated Chimaltenango 4-1 on Sunday, Sept. 14. That result snapped a two-match winless streak for the visitors, who had lost 1-0 at Nueva Santa Rosa and drawn 0-0 at Chiquimulilla in their previous outings.

Santa Lucia’s form has been mixed this season. The club owns a 5-2-5 record over its last 12 matches, a stretch that includes four clean-sheet victories. The team has been particularly stingy defensively, posting shutouts in seven of those contests. However, scoring has been an issue at times; Santa Lucia has been held scoreless in five matches during that span.

Achuapa, meanwhile, comes off a 2-2 draw with Antigua GFC on Sunday, April 26. The result extended Achuapa’s winless run to three matches. Prior to the draw, Achuapa lost 3-0 at Xelaju and defeated Malacateco 1-0.

Over its last 12 matches, Achuapa owns a 4-4-4 record. The home side has shown resilience at Estadio Winston Pineda but has struggled for consistency. Achuapa has scored multiple goals only twice in its last 11 outings, while being blanked six times.

Saturday’s match marks the second meeting between the clubs this season. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw. According to Interstat’s ELO ratings, Achuapa holds a 51.60 percent probability of winning, with Santa Lucia given a 26.15 percent chance. The likelihood of a draw stands at 22.25 percent.

Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at Estadio Winston Pineda. The contest is the first of two matches for each club in the final week of the regular season, with playoff positioning likely at stake.
